Joying android car stereo head unit review

Below some pictures...
I had to take the entire center console apart.
The center console consists out out:
- top part: A/C controls and original Radio
- bottom part: CD storage and empty shelf

Parts I used:
- CarJoying Quad core android double din radio (universal model I think)
- Bezel + 2DIN radio bracket (eBay)
- Empty shelf (Porsche)
- New bezel for the A/C controls (Porsche)
- migrate lighter size dual USB connector (for data)

To make the unit fit, I removed the A/C controls and the radio, then removed a piece of plastic that was dividing the top part. You can see it just below the original car radio picture.
I ordered a bezel at eBay to fit around the radio, but the hole was too small, so I carefully made the hole larger with a Dremel and sand paper.
With a little trickery, I managed to fix the drama for the radio to slide in.

I then removed the CD holder that used to sit in the lower compartment.
Since the low compartment isn’t straight I had to order a new empty shelf from Porsche which would fit in the upper half of the lower part, and a bezel for the A/C controls so it would fit in the lower part. Running the wires from the A/C controls to the lower compartment was a little tricky - the wires are long enough but guiding the large connectors past all the stuff wasn’t easy.

Finally I purchased a dual USB extension thing, which I installed in an empty spot, just below the buttons on the left of the radio so I can now stick a USB drive in that to load music if I’d like. I have not yet tried if this would also allow me to charge my phone and/or use it to tether my phone for Internet access or use a 3G/4G USB module.
I’ve included 2 pictures, one with the USB connectors and one without so you can see the difference.

It might be an idea to offer such a connector through your website android car stereo double din.

Further more I have installed the ODB2 dongle that I purchased through you, and the 2000 Porsche Boxster is indeed giving some (even though it’s a little slow) data.

The Porsche standard has a wire attached to the car radio (anti-theft) but I found it to not work that well with the way I setup things. Simply disconnecting this wire makes it that the alarm can be used normally.

As you can see: It’s been a fun, even though challenging at times, project and my car looks great now with the Car Joying radio.
Doing all this in my 2000 Boxster was much easier than expected (modern cars can be a pain to take all this apart), but it definitely is not just a simple thing to do.
